Bradley Schwack, MD

Board-Certified General SurgeonMinimally Invasive Surgery

Dr. Bradley Schwack is thrilled to join the Chicago Surgical Clinic. Dr. Schwack comes to us from New York City with over 20 years of experience as a Minimally Invasive General, Laparoscopic, Robotic, and Bariatric Surgeon. For the last 15 years he was Assistant Professor of Surgery/Attending Physician at NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Schwack is Board Certified in General Surgery and fellowship trained with expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Advanced Laparoscopy/Robotics and Bariatrics). He has performed thousands of operations managing GI, abdominal, and soft tissue conditions including gallstones, abdominal wall and groin hernias, reflux and hiatal hernia, stomach disorders, intestinal diseases, obesity, infections, masses, and diseases of the skin and soft tissue, among many other conditions.

Specialized as a Minimally Invasive Surgeon, Dr. Schwack’s skills, precision, and vast experience with the most advanced, yet gentlest technical approaches to surgery provide great benefit to his patients. Advanced laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery (da Vinci® Surgical System) involve smaller skin incisions than traditional surgery and use specialized instrumentation and state-of-the-art optics to zoom in on and have direct access to the specific area of concern in the body. These techniques reduce the disruption of surrounding tissue meaning less trauma and less of a risk of injury. These minimally invasive modalities result in dramatically quicker healing/recovery, significantly less scarring, markedly less pain, shorter hospital stays, and speedier resumption of normal healthy living.

For over twenty years at NYU, Dr. Schwack was privileged to teach medical students, residents, and fellows while conducting clinical/outcomes research. He presents extensively at both national and international surgical and medical conferences. Dr. Schwack also authors book chapters and frequently publishes articles in peer reviewed surgical journals.

Dr. Schwack’s approach to care focuses on clear communication, clinical excellence, and collaborative decision-making while assuring the highest level of patient safety. He strongly believes that patients and their families deserve a complete understanding of their state of health and must be actively involved in and confident with the plan of care. By combining evidence-based medicine with an individualized approach, Dr. Schwack recognizes that each patient’s needs, goals, and circumstances are different.

Dr. Schwack is excited to make the Chicago area his new home. His personal interests include movies, reading novels and biographies, live music, skiing, aviation/flight simulation, traveling, and fly-fishing. At home he loves to watch football, basketball, and baseball—still closely following his favorite New York teams, especially the New York Jets.

Dr. Schwack is currently seeing new patients. Book a consultation with him online or over the phone. He looks forward to welcoming you!
